What are custom meta tags?
The meta tag contains information about the document. You can use custom meta tags to provide Google with additional information about your pages. Google may use this information to create rich snippets or enable ranking of search results.

How to add the HTML tag to the home page of your WordPress site to verify ownership
- Go to the administration page of your WordPress site.
- Go to Plugins and add the Meta Tag Manager plugin.
- After adding the plugin, go to Pages -> Home Page and click Edit.
Custom meta tags
- Find the SEO settings box, custom meta tags and click Add meta tag.
- Select Name (or Property) from the menu.
- Enter the appropriate value for the Name (or Property)
- Enter the appropriate value for Content.
- Update/Publish the page.
(See Know your meta tags below.) If you want to find out if a certain page uses meta tags, simply right-click anywhere on the page and select “View Page Source”. A new tab will open in Chrome (in Firefox, it will be a popup). The part at the top, or “head” of the page, is where the meta tags would be.
Remove the robots meta tag from any page that needs to be indexed. To find pages with nofollow tags from malicious meta robots, crawl the site with Ahrefs Site Audit and check the indexability report for “Page Nofollow” warnings.
