Can we increase partitions in Kafka?
Apache Kafka provides us with a modify command to change the behavior of the theme and add/modify configurations. Note: Although Kafka allows us to add more partitions, it is NOT possible to decrease the number of partitions in a theme. To achieve this, you need to delete and recreate your theme.

How do I shrink the Kafka partition?
Apache Kafka does not support partition number decrementation. You should see the theme as a whole and partitions are a way to scale and improve performance. So all data sent to the theme flows to all partitions and deleting one of them means data loss.
How are messages stored in Kafka?
Kafka stores all messages with the same key in a single partition. Each new message in the partition gets an id that is one more than the previous id number. So the first message is at ‘offset’ 0, the second message is at offset 1 and so on. These Compensation IDs are always incremented from the previous value.
How many partitions do I need Kafka?
For most deployments, you want to follow the Kafka rule of thumb of 10 partitions per topic and 10,000 partitions per cluster. Going beyond that amount may require additional monitoring and optimization. (You can learn more about Kafka monitoring here.)
How are topics divided in Kafka Stack Overflow?
To balance the load, a topic can be divided into multiple partitions and replicated between brokers. Partitions are ordered, immutable sequences of messages that are continuously added, that is, a commit record. The messages in the partition have a sequential ID number that uniquely identifies each message within the partition.
How are messages inserted into a Kafka topic?
Specifically, one or more Kafka producers insert these messages into a topic with nine partitions. Because the customer ID is chosen as the key for each message, data pertaining to a given customer will always be inserted into the same topic partition. By implication, Kafka producers use the DefaultPartitioner to assign messages to partitions.
How to query Kafka topics with stream processors?
These key-value stores can be continually populated with new messages from a Kafka topic by defining a suitable stream processor, so that messages from the underlying topic can now be quickly retrieved.
How does Kafka Streams store messages in the state store?
Now suppose we have a Kafka Streams application that reads messages from this topic and stores them in a state store. Because the key to each message consists only of the customer ID, the corresponding value in the state store will always be the timestamp of the customer’s last booking.
